Zouwar
Passengers
Passengers we are born into this world
This home is not ours to keep
We leave on wings of absence and become
A bird waiting for a chance to flee
Hiding in his comfortable silk-walled cage
Until one day the fire stamps out
The wind blows and the branches creak
He flaps his wings and escapes the cage
And turns into a prisoner of the age
Passengers we are born into this world
This home is not ours to keep
From the very first moment, tears born in our eyes
On our mother’s shoulder we lean
She smiles and says: “it’s the most beautiful feeling,
From this moment you have become my whole being
I will share your happiness and stand by your side in misery”
The truth uncovers as we grow older
It drizzles happiness, but the tears flow like rivers
Mom, that is what we call life
Bit darker day after day
Passengers we are born into this world
This home is not ours to keep
And on our deathbeds we reminisce
About the good and bad that life gave
As we become aware of the time passing, regret won’t fix a thing
Can’t go back in time that’s for certain
What’s left of it is what gives us hope
To love those who love us even for few moments
And to love those who hate us and wish they’re well
For if we saw them after our passing
We’ll turn into friends and be fortunate instead
Passengers we are born into this world
This home is not ours to keep
